Network Attached Storage (NAS)
NAS is a server connected to your network which is a computer data storage server. The NAS allows multiple users and assorted client devices retrieve unstructured data that is stored on a centralised disc capacity.
Users gain access to this data through a Local Area Network via an ethernet connection.
NAS is typically characterised by its ease of access, high storage capacity and relatively low cost. For a business, the NAS provide an infrastructure which allows the consolidation of storage and localisation of tasks such as archiving, backup etc.
NAS and your business
A NAS connected to a wireless router enables users to collaborate data in a manner that is effective and efficiently allows for teamwork and shared projects particularly when team members are in different locations. A NAS can be thought of as a ‘private cloud’.
